You may not have the prestige or the power that certain heteronormative archetype figures possess, but I don’t think either of those things are necessary for compassion and integrity. By saying you yourself have never committed these “sins” and therefore will not answer for those who have, it’s a bit like washing your hands of the whole thing, the least helpful thing anyone can do right now. This is evident also in my country where people say they’ve never killed any drug dealers nor violated any human rights, but they have this tacit agreement that the atrocities that are happening are necessary to weed out public enemy number one: the poor. It’s like a nationwide occurence of people walking past a dying man in the street: I didn’t mug him, and it doesn’t really affect my day if he lives or dies.
